My Face from Start to Finish!

Hi everyone!

I thought it would be a good idea to run you through my face from start to finish, what areas I do first and so on. I also do the same face routine on clients. There isn't much to it, I just thought it would be a handy way of showing you what I do and why.

<!-- WGCCxxx -->

Step 1 - Eyebrows.
I do my eye brows first for a number of reasons. Firstly, they take me the longest time to do! I love brows so I want them as perfect as can be, if you have seen my brow blog post ( http://jodirochemakeup.blogspot.ie/2015/09/how-to-brows.html ) then you'll know all about it. Secondly, I used to do foundation first then my brows but I found that placing brow products on top of a liquid foundation only cause them to become slippery and move around a lot and even get oily! So it's nice to have a bare, dry base for the brows to sit onto rather than an oily mess underneath. I would highly recommend doing your brows first, just check out my blog post on how to do brows, linked above.

Step 2 - Eyes.
I then do my eye shadow and liner and all that simply because of fallout. I don't get fallout often, that usually only happens with darker colours, but when I do it's nice to just be able to wipe it away rather than have it cling to my foundation. Again I used to apply foundation first but that didn't suit my brows and it didn't suit me when I got fallout. I find this also helps if/when you need to clean up the edges or winged liner. Another makeup method I would recommend you try out. http://jodirochemakeup.blogspot.ie/2015/07/how-to-smokey-eye-tutorial.html

Step 3 - Foundation.
Once my brows and eye makeup are done, then apply foundation with my +Sigma Beauty  F80.

Step 4 - Concealer.
Then I apply my concealer with my fingers. I use +MAC Cosmetics NC20 and put this under my eyes, down my nose, on my forehead and chin. Then go back in with my F80 brush and blend it all in.

Step 5 - Cream Highlight and Contour.
I don't do this everyday or on every client. Only when a strong contour is wanted. Here is my blog post on contouring if you need to know what areas to contour & highlight. I use the +W7 Cosmetics  Faceshaper for contour and High Beam by +Benefit Cosmetics for highlight. http://jodirochemakeup.blogspot.ie/2015/05/contouring.html

Step 6 - Powder.
I usually use Johnsons baby powder to get my entire face.

Step 7 - Powder Contour and Highlight. & some Blush.
Once everything is set in place, I go in with powder products to contour and highlight even more. I usually use the Blank Canvas contour kit or else the +Anastasia Beverly Hills  contour kit. To highlight I usually use MaryLou Manizer by +theBalm Cosmeticshttp://jodirochemakeup.blogspot.ie/2015/07/strobing-new-contouring.html

Step 8 - Eyes, again.
Okay so in Step 2 I did my eyemakeup but not my mascara or lashes. I'd wear lashes on a normal day all the time if I could but sometimes you just can't. So now is the part where I do my mascara. I love the Lancome Hypnosis Doll Eyes mascara. To avoid mascara from transferring onto your lid or under the eye, lock in your normal mascara with a water proof formula, I get the water proof mascara by NYC, it's a blue tube and costs only €3.

Step 9 -  Lips.
Time to draw on those lips! My all time fav lip is a good nude lip. I love using +Urban Decay Cosmetics  lip liner in 'Liar' with +MAC Cosmetics lipstick in 'Honeylove'.

Step 10 - Set.
Once all that is done, I usually set my face with a setting spray and I love the one by +Urban Decay Cosmetics All Nighter Spray.

Well, that's my face routine from start to finish. Sometimes I use a face primer but I don't find it necessary. I hope you found this helpful and maybe will try out my way of applying makeup.

I Love Autumn Tag!

Hey everyone!

I was tagged by the lovely Cuddles and Contouring to do this tag and I'm so excited because Autumn/Winter are my favorite seasons! Sure let's face it, we hardly get a Spring or Summer here in Ireland!

I'll leave a link below so you can have a read of Lisa's tag! So with no further ado, on to the tag :)

1. What item of clothing can you not live without in the Winter but wouldn't be caught dead wearing it in public?

I'd have to say my fluffy onesies. I get the size small in +Primark but they're still too big and long! Still love them though, I have at least four.

2. Most wanted item for Autumn/Winter?

A nice pair of comfy, fluffy boots. I'd love a real pair of UGGS but I don't know! I have pretty much everything else I need, just a struggle to find a nice pair of warm fuzzy boots.

3. What is your favorite Autumn/Winter makeup look?

Definitely strong brows, bare eye lids only a strong wing liner and either a red lip or dark berry lip colour. I love Sin by +MAC Cosmetics however an amazing dupe for that lippy is Cinnamon Spince by Wet N Wild for only €2.99.

4.What is your favorite Autumn lip colour?

Haha same as the answer above :)

5. Are you a lover or hater when it comes to UGGS?

I think the answer to question two answers that! I'm a lover but only when they are worn fashionably in public. I'm all for UGG boots and trackies around the house though while rocking the hun bun!

6. What is your favorite Autumn trend?

Layers. Love layering up. I love being warm and cosy and just wrapped up to the last, to the point where you can only see my eyes!

7. Do you like or dislike the fact that the nights are getting darker and longer?

I love it. I much rather it being dark at 6 in the evening rather than it being bright until 11 o clock in Summer. I just love being inside and cuddled up with a cup of tea in front of the fire and the sooner I can do that, the better.

8. What is your favorite Halloween movie?

Halloween Town or Hocus Pocus. Enough said. Disney did it best when it came to Halloween movies.

9. What are your favourite Halloween sweets?

When it comes to Halloween, the sweets don't appeal to me because I am a ceoliac so the majority of the time, I couldn't eat the sweets I got for trick or treating! I used to give them all away to my cousins or brother. So I don't have any fav Halloween sweet apart from plain chocolate haha!

10. Christmas is coming, have you any idea of what you want?

Of course I do. My list is never ending! I honestly just want makeup and for everyone to remain happy and healthy :) I love Christmas time mainly because I love spoiling people. I have already started the Christmas shopping for family, OCD at its best ladies and gentlemen!

Okay so everyone I hope you enjoyed this tag! I really enjoyed doing this and now it has made me excited for the season ahead of us. Feel free to do this tag yourself, I love reading tags!

Thanks a mill Cuddles and Contouring for tagging me!
Here is the link to Cuddles and Contouring blog! Please check it out, she is one of my fav bloggers and great friend :)

Makeup Brush Haul!

Hey everyone!

Yet another haul. A lot goes into being a makeup artist to be honest and one thing I must do regularly is stock up on products. If you have been to me before, you'll know that I have countless brushes but some are very cheap like ones from eBay. To be honest, my eBay brushes are fine and do the job but it is nice to stock up on new, high quality brushes every now and again.

I don't physically have these brushes yet but I just have to share with you before the offer runs out! So as you may know I buy the majority of my makeup from http://www.cloud10beauty.com/ and at the moment they have discounted the makeup brushes, I think it's like 20% off.

I have had my eyes on these brushes for over a month now and when I saw they were on offer, I couldn't refuse. Normally €165 they were down to €140!

So as you can tell it's a set of 10 amazing brushes by Sigma. I own the infamous F80 brush and I've had it for years now & it's still like brand new after every wash, not one hair has shed from it. I know these are so expensive but you can buy these individually.

The best thing about this was not only was I saving about €25 euro or so, I also got another 15% off the €140. This brought the brush set down to only €118 with free shipping. Now I know €118 is a lot but each brush works out at €11.80 each which is unreal for such amazing brushes! Like Real Techniques brushes cost more than that.

15% Code: FACEBOOK15

The brushes on cloud10 are still reduced and I'm sure that 15% off code still works because I only used it last night. The set I got are out of stock (may have bought the last set haha!) but there are plenty of other brands on cloud10 such as Blank Canvas and Real Techniques. All brushes of all brands are discounted. With free shipping on orders over €15 it's unreal and the shipping is actually so quick, I think cloud10 is based in Cork or something.

I just wanted to let you all know about these Sigma brushes and offer on cloud10 because I think once you have high quality tools then the cheapest of products will still turn out unreal with the correct brushes & tools.

As I said I already have a few Sigma brushes including the F80 and a good few eye brushes. This set is clearly mainly a face set but I will post a review and that once they arrive. But as I said anyway all brushes are on sale and don't forget to use the discount code from Facebook. I will leave everything linked below!

Hope you pick up some new fab brushes!

Since my set is out of stock you can buy it in half but it costs a bit more:

But you can also buy them all separately too (like the F80) which again costs a bit more but maybe you only want one or two! Not 10 haha.

Honestly though if you can, I would highly recommend you to get the Sigma brushes.

For 15% off use the code FACEBOOK15 at the checkout.

What Colours To Go For!

Hi everyone, I hope you're all well!

Today I want to talk about what colours you should be going for with regards to your makeup. Now,
I’m no expert, but you can learn a lot from watching Beauty Gurus on YouTube. This is just a bit of
advice for those that aren't sure about which eyeshadow shade or lip colour to wear!

I'm going to keep this as basic as I possibly can. I do have a few views myself that you may not agree with, but that's just a difference of opinions. I hope you enjoy this post and that you learn something from it!

I’ve been watching YouTube videos for years now, and the main thing that everyone mentions when choosing what colours to go for, is the colour wheel:

I just got this from google images but the concept of it all is super easy:

Basically, whatever colour your eyes are, go to that colour and look across. Those are the colours
that will make your eyes pop the most. So as you can see browns, oranges and golden colours are
across from blue; this means that if you have blue eyes, you should be wearing browns, oranges and
golden colours for eye shadow. I also find vibrant pinks and cranberry shades make blue eyes pop too!You may have brown eyes and as you can see blue is across from that, but no one really wants to
wear blue eyeshadow; so in my opinion I would go for navys and purples - just darker shades of blue.

Purple shadow looks amazing on green and brown eyes. My friend has brown eyes and she did the standard neutral brown eye, but used the slightest bit of purple through the crease, it wasn't a
vibrant purple or anything crazy, just subtle enough to make her eyes pop!

This post has been requested but also with the inclusion of hair colour. To be honest I don't think
your hair colour matters for what eyeshadows you wear, but in my opinion I think lip colour can be linked to hair colour.

For example, mossy brown hair; I think a neutral brown eyeshadow look with a bold red lip would be
fab! Personally, being blonde, I don't like pink lipstick on myself. I feel like a Barbie doll sometimes, but honestly I haven't found the perfect shade of pink to suit me.

OPINIONS & TIPS

  • Anyone can rock a smokey eye - green & brown eyes should maybe opt for a purple-ish smokey eye, blue eyes can go grey/black or else cranberry shades.
  • Anyone can wear a nude lip; although you should find the nude shade that suits you personally as your skin tone will depend on what type of nude suits you best.
  • Anyone can wear a red lip roo - I'd recommend Russian Red by +MAC Cosmetics as it suits everyone.
  • Anyone can pull off winged liner - fact.
  • Opinion - Darker hair; maybe go for a subtle eye but pop of colour on the lips - purple lipstick is a favourite of mine on anyone with darker hair, red lipstick is also fab! To be honest, anyone with brown hair or darker can rock any lipstick.
  • Opinion - Light hair; try a dark eye and light lip. I love a black smokey eye on blondes with a really nude lip, but that’s just a personal preference. If you're blonde, just please find the right shade of pink for you. I love Nicki Minaj and Barbie but I don't really want to look like them that much myself!
  • Opinion - Girls with red hair; you can pull off anything - honestly. My friend can pull off any lip colour, including red. She can also pull off any eyeshadow colour, but we don't know the actual colour of her eyes, they're a mix of all eye colours but she rocks anything anyway!
I think I have the basics of it all there. I'm going to leave some links below to YouTube videos that
help explain this in more detail. I hope you enjoyed this post and found it helpful, but please remember that there are no rules to makeup! Just play around and have fun with it, it’s all up to how
you prefer your makeup to be. These tips and opinions are just here to help you enhance your
features as best as you can, but that's not to say that someone with green eyes can't wear blue shadow! Wear whatever you want girls and rock it is what I say!

Five min video for blue eyes by +Rachel Leary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ultdUuU9mL0 - this includes the browns and golds as mentioned above.

Five min video for green eyes by +Pin Up Beauty https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73boMTHo1jg - this includes dark purples and plum colours.

Ten min video for brown eyes by +Teni Panosian https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhbNXR1HBKY - this is a really soft, neutral smokey eye with a hint of a dark purpley/red brown.

Hope you found this some way helpful.

Where do I get my lashes?

Hey everyone!

So I know we all love a good lash, whether they are natural or OTT. I find some packets can be so
expensive, especially when you might only get one use out of them! I buy the majority of my lashes in bulk on eBay to make sure I'm fully stocked up for a few weeks. If I'm ever stuck for lashes though, I pick them up in Primark; the sultry lashes are extremely popular so I usually get a few pairs of them at once, or else you can get a packet of five for just €5 and they're just as lovely!

Anyway, as I said, I get all of mine from eBay, they're just as nice as any other lashes and I buy about 100 pairs at a time, haha! Shipping is free on all lashes but I would recommend that you buy them in
bulk, because they take three weeks or more to arrive, so get enough to last you a long while; even if
you buy €5 worth, you'll still have about twenty pairs as most of these are five packs.

Here are the links and photos of the lashes that I use, enjoy!

First up are these 5 pairs for just €1.45. Each pair is different so it's nice to have variety in the sets that I get and all of these look amazing on:

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/231463502460?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Next up are my favourite lashes out of them all. They look natural but still fake. Just my go-to lashes and I try to make all my clients wear them haha! This is another 5 pack of lashes for just  88c, you simply cannot go wrong here.

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/321651820638?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Now I have my crazy,OTT lashes but I absolutely love these for when I don't want to do eyeshadow; the lashes are so big there would be no point doing shadow as you wouldn't see it haha! Again this is a 5 pack for €1.35, bargain.

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/381264127931?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Last but not least is a bundle of sixty lashes. These come with six sets, and ten pairs in each set. Half
of the bundle are natural looking lashes and the other half look like sweeping brushes, but still fab. These only cost €4.90 for sixty pairs so you'd be sorted for about three months or more if you just
bought these for your own use, but as I apply them to clients all the time you can imagine my stock
gets low very quickly! They are still very good value. The only thing about that I don’t like about
these lashes are the thick lash bands; they become very stiff and hard to work with. I usually wrap
the lash around my finger to loosen the stiff band and get that nice curved shape into the lash before I apply them to the eyes:

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/181411962418?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

So that’s all of the lashes that I’ve tried and tested, but I’ve just ordered some more that have yet to
arrive so I’ll keep you posted on how well (or not so well!) I find them to work with:

Hope you enjoyed this weekends blog and found this helpful.

My Hair Journey

Hi everyone!

I know this is a non-makeup related post but I do get a lot of questions about my hair. I get that this is a makeup blog but I feel like all things beauty tie into one. Also my Makeup Journey seemed to go down a treat with you allIt's good to be able to laugh at yourself every so often!

Right so I'm just going to go through the history of my hair and show you it now and what I do to make it grey because that's what people ask me about mostly.

My natural hair is very thin, a mossy brown colour with a hint of red when the sun shines on it, yeah I'm like dark strawberry blonde. The only picture I could find was this on here when I was about 3 years old but this does show my true hair colour very well.

Shoutout to Katie who was actually cute once upon a time :) Love ya gal Xo

Right so my hair was that colour until I was 11, that is when my older cousin Tara began training to be a hair dresser and needed someone to practice on, of course I was the guinea pig. Don't think I have a photo of this and probably best that I don't because Tara has obviously improved over the last 8 years! She just put blonde highlights through my hair cause I dunno I guess that's what she needed to practice.

I can't even find pictures on Facebook to show because back then Bebo was all the range but anyways.. I stayed blonde for most of first year but then I remember going brown for a while but then back to blonde. So in second year of secondary school I was back to blonde again.

So yeah that's the type of blonde I was for another year and a half I'd say.

Then towards the end of 3rd year I did what everyone did at the time and went Rihanna Red. This picture doesn't do it justice because I honestly had bright red hair like you couldn't miss me. Ignore the bare face also.

I stayed like this for a bit because if anyone has had or still has red hair, you know the struggle is real. Trying to get the shade of red you want and making it stay that colour is just some hassle. So eventually I gave up and let it fade away to a browny ginger colour and just let my hair get healthy again.

Then I became sick of that colour and just went pure dark dark brown like it was horrible on me.

Just ignore the cut of me like I can't even deal myself. My hair and makeup was just atrocious in 2011/12. Just wanna say that whenever I go brown, I've done it myself with box dye so don't think Tara does this to me haha I do this willingly myself. Tara is responsible for my blonde and red hair.

Then I got sick of dark brown again so let that fade out for ages. And sure then of course I did the balayage like everyone else too. Tara did this for me and I actually still love it to this day, I'd defo go back to this hair colour/style soon. It's so nice to not have roots!

All these photos are from my Facebook profilers by the way haha the only way I can track my hair colour/style. Sure anyway this didn't last very long and of course I dyed the blonde end bits pink. Like I mean vibrant, in your face, pink.

Soz Mare you had to be featured haha only picture I have of it! So yeah I got sick of the pink and let that fade again until it faded back to blonde. And then once all the pink was gone I began to go back fully blonde with highlights all over.

Soz Rich you also had to be featured haha. So yeah this was 2013 and I was pretty much fully blonde again. Yay!

Then we went for a little bit of a chop with the hair and because I thought my hair was in great condition after the trim, I went off and dyed my whole head pink.

Let the pink fade and I was back blonde and then cut a full fringe into my hair. I do this from time to time and it only lasts about 3 weeks before I get sick of trying to manage it so I may invest in a clip on fringe for when I get in that mood.

Fair play if you're still following this!

Then after that I just left my alone. The fringe grew out and I just kept getting a full head of hightlights and little trims off the ends every 2/3 months. I did this because I wanted to have long, white hair for my debs which was a year away, so I kept my hair in good nick for just over a year and it was probably the best thing I could have done. I was making hair masks from eggs and honey at home twice a week and not using heat on it. I just took very good care of my hair for a year or so.

What I use to keep the blonde/white colour up is the purple shampoo from Swarzkopf. It's called Silver Shampoo but it's purple in colour. I use to leave this in my hair for like ten mins every time I wash my hair. I even had purple dots on my neck and ears from the stain off it, I left it on way too long.

This shampoo is brilliant but I still wanted more. So we went looking and Tara found the Fanciful Rinse by Roux. It's a liquid hair rinse, it doesn't come with a nozzle so you'll have to take the sprayer off another bottle and use it with this bottle and spray this all over your hair when you hair is damp. My debs hair was a full head of highlights, leave in the touch of silver shampoo for ages and then spray the fanciful rinse all over and dry.

I use the shade 43 Platinum Plus and as you can see you can get this from Terri Sales :) And this is the colour of my hair for the debs, I absolutely loved my colour and style for the debs!

So yeah that was my hair from September 2014 until like November. Then I chopped my hair into a BOB and my hair has been blue, pink, back blonde and then purple up until  March 2015. The blue and pink only lasted a week, they were semi permanent colours and water based so they didn't last long. They faded back to blonde but this next purple was permanent. The only issue was that Tara was getting married in May so no one wanted me to have purple hair. About March time we started to remove the purple but to this day, there are still some patches of pink in my hair. Learnt my lesson. Here is a timeline of those hair colours and transition stages...

And then after bleaching my head for 3 months we finally came to this colour - I have extensions in here..

So that was in May and I kept this until September. But if you follow me you'll see that I've had grey hair. Well what I use is by the brand Roux also and it's also Fanciful but it's the mousse version of the liquid rinse. I use the shades 41 & 42 and I put them both into my hair and also onto my extensions. The colour will wash out so being grey for a night out is a nice change for me. My hair was white under all the grey.

You can get this mousse in most chemists in town or in Salon Services in Waterford.

Just recently I toned down the blonde in my hair to a darker more natural blonde, we were worried that the grey mousse may not look as well but I just had it in my hair last night and it was perfect!

I think that's it. Fair play to everyone who made it this far. You're probably sick of seeing my face now but I thought it would be cool to go back over the years and look at my hair this time. And to also share with you the products I use.

I hope you found this interesting or helpful in some way! My hair will probably be a different colour next week but I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for reading! Xx
