Makeup Essentials!

Hey everyone!

So I always have chats with my clients and they all ask me the same questions usually. The main question is what should I use on my face? Like yeah, an entire face recommendation. Which I don't mind but as you can imagine, when I tell them everything they'll only remember like two things, so today I'm going to make that list available to you all. I hope you enjoy!

First things first, you have to know your skin type so are you oily, dry or combo or what? You'll know immediately anyways yourself. So I would consider your base to be the most important and I think a lot of you will agree. You could have the best blended smokey eye in the world but if your base (foundation, concealer, powder etc) is patchy or doesn't match or suit your skin then no one is going to look at your fab eyes, they will all just look at your face and that's not really good if its looking  crap. That sounds extremely harsh but it's just to show that you need a good base.

For myself, I always hear that you should take care of your skin first and foremost but I'm very bad with my skincare, it's just a baby-wipe and maybe some micellar water but nothing more. My skin isn't too bad like I've never suffered from acne just the normal breakouts now and again so I won't be giving advice on skincare because I think that's something different for everyone so I would say pop into your local chemist or even doctor and they could point you in the right direction about your skin and what products can help. It's all trial and error but if you find a brand or product that works for you the best then I would say keep it and don't be trying new things once you've found that holy grail product, Drinking lots of water will help too!

So now that that's out of the way we can move onto the makeup! I think I'll bypass the prepping and priming because that's different for everyone again. I don't really believe in primers I just moisturize my face but saying that I do have primers that I might use but I don't think you need one unless you have/find one that does something for you. So again just find what you like but I don't think everyone needs a primer.

What I do think though is that you should really invest in a good foundation and concealer because that's what's going to make or break your face. You don't need the splash the cash with these either, I will tell you what I use in a sec and it's mostly chemist foundations or high end ones but still affordable if that makes sense.

Unless a client tells me that they have dry skin or have oily skin, I will use the same mixture for everyone but there are ways to make it work. I'm only going to talk about products that I've actually used.

My most used and favorite foundations would be:

  • Inglot YSM Foundation €20
  • Loreal True Match €15
  • Vichy Dermablend €20
  • Rimmel Match Perfection (blue lid) it costs about €12 or something!
  • Loreal Infallible Matte (tube) it costs about €12 too!
  • Revlon Colourstay or Photoready €20
  • Inglot HD Foundation €30

So if you know foundations then you'll know most of these are matte which is a brilliant finish for oily skin. Now if you have dry skin what I normally do is apply some MAC strobe cream, you can get a small tube for €10 and it'll do you for ages! And then I will mix some of the Sleek illuminator €11.50 into what ever foundation. This usually helps a lot.

Now we're moving onto concealer and I only ever use one concealer. That is the MAC Pro Longwear concealer and I usually get NC20 because the NC tones are more yellow toned and most of my clients are wearing tan which has a green/yellow undertone and it just matches really well. This concealer costs €23 but will last you 6 months and you can hold me to that. I sometimes use the NYX HD concealer €7.50 to brighten the face even more if needs be. This concealer sets on the face really quickly so you have to work fast and blend it all in and set with powder ASAP or you will get creasing.

The powder I use on everyone and myself is baby powder so I would say just use baby powder! If you have dry skin just set the under eye area and maybe the T zone. If you have oily skin then lash the baby powder all over. You can also use this to bake your face which is a post for another time haha!

So now that's the base done. I hope you got a little insight into that. That's just what I use on myself and clients so those products and methods are what I would recommend the most.

The eye shadow primer you need in your life if the I Love Stage eye shadow base by Essence €3. Apply this to your eye lid, I just use my finger and set with baby powder.

Brows are so important and I have a blog post on how I do my brows but what I would recommend you getting is the Inglot Brow Gel €16 if you have dark hair get number 16 and if you are blonde go for number 12. I think that's all you need. Clear mascara is great then to just brush through the brows to keep the hairs in place. And you all know I use the Catrice cream concealer to carve out my brows €3.

Now eye-shadows, I think we all have the world of palettes and I don't really need to tell you what to get. I love Urban Decay, Inglot, Sleek, MAC and Smashbox so like you know yourself. If you're on a budget I would say Sleek palettes are the best to go for because you get 12 shadows for €10 which is amazing so eye shadows are grand like you know yourself!

Contouring and highlighting are becoming more and more important in the makeup world so I have a few that I love. I don't normally cream contour but if I was I use the NYX HD concealer in 08 €7.50 and my concealer would be my cream highlight so that's that done. For powder I do use the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit which is like €50 but we all can't afford that so I would recommend the Blank Canvas Cosmetics contour palette €16 or the New Look Pure Colour contour palette it's under €10 and you can get a student discount or I have seen Fushia's contour palette €25 which looks exactly the same as the ABH contour kit so I am going to pick that up during the week and let you know how I get on.

For highlight I would use the Sleek illuminator €11.50 which is a liquid/cream product but so amazing. For powder highlight I would highly recommend MaryLou by theBalm €20, a bit pricey but defo worth it or the Manizer palette for €25 which includes MaryLou, CindyLou(blush) and BettyLou(bronzer). Another great highlight would be the New Look Pure Colour baked eye shadow in Cream €8.

Personally I think it's easier to own palettes than single products so that is why I didn't list single contour colours or anything. I think if you can get a palette then that's the best because it's all together and it takes up less space and it's just handy, especially when you're travelling.

And for lips I mean? I can just tell you what brands I like but at the end of the day it's grand because you can top it up during the day. So I really like MAC obvs haha and Wet N Wild, Sleek, New Look Pure Colour, Urban Decay. Lip liners that are good would be Penneys PS Love, Essence or Rimmel.

Mascara is mascara but I really love the Lancome Doll Eyes €20 just incase you wanted to know!

And I use liquid liner on myself so it's the NYC matte black liquid liner €3 and on clients I use the Inglot Gel Liner in 77 €17 or someting!

I think I've covered it all! You don't need a makeup setting spray but I really like the Urban Decay All Nighter €30 big bottle €12 small bottle or else the NYX Matte Spray €10.

Most of these products can be got in Sam McCauley's in town or in Debenhams. Murrays Chemist also stock a few bits and as do Llyods and Connolly's. Joe Kelly's in Abbeyside will have the full makeup stand of Sleek and Wet N Wild. Llyods in the shopping centre are the only ones left that stock NYC I believe. So take a girly trip to town some day and just go for it.

I really hope I've covered everything. I guess if you want just take note of what I've mentioned and let me know if you've picked up anything I've mentioned and how you like it! I'd love to know :)

I think that's it lads! Hope you enjoyed!

Claire's Makeup - Product List & Progress

Hi everyone!

So my friend Claire is going to kill me but like I just thought she was so pretty last night, she always is but she asked me to glam her up even more for a staff night out which I was more than happy to do obvs! But today I wanna show you her makeup and list the products used but also show you a transformation in my work. There's about a year in the difference so it just goes to show what hard work & practice can do!

Pls don't kill me Claire lol

So onto the look..

Brows -
Inglot Brow Gel in 16
Billion Dollar Brows Powder in Taupe
Catrice Cream Concealer to clean up

Eyes-
Essence Eyeshadow Base
Gwen Stefani Palette by Urban Decay
Inglot Gel Liner in 77
Lashes - eBay

Face-
Inglot YSM in 49
Inglot HD in 77
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC15
NYX HD Concealers to highlight and contour in 01 & 08
NYC Pressed Powder

Contour -
ABH Contour Kit

Highlight & Blush-
The Manizer Palette
New Look Baked Eyeshadow in Cream

Lips-
Penneys Nude lip liner
Spiked with Rum lipstick by Wet N Wild

And that's the face! There's actually not that much to it.

So now I just want to give you a quick glance at a Then & Now type of photo.

So the photo on the left is Claire going to a ball and I had done her makeup for that! As you can tell we do fairly simple looks when it comes to eyes because since Claire has fab brown eyes we just don't want too much darkness going on or it'll close up her eyes! So we usually keep it light on the eye area anyways but even the bronzing and contouring skills have gone up a level. Which I should hope so because I'd like to see an improvement after a year haha!

So yeah that's it lads! Hope you enjoyed this post and keep at whatever you're doing because practice makes perfect!

Makeup Brushes!

Hey everyone!

So today I wanted to share with you makeup brushes that I have. These are all sets and some are cheap like from eBay while others will be more expensive, so there will be something for everyone!

The ones I have from eBay all come from China so you will be waiting about 3 weeks but they are worth it! I use them constantly and I actually don't know what I would do without some of the brushes from eBay and people are shocked when I tell them that they're from eBay!

So without rambling too much I'll have photos and links below along with a few comments. Hope you enjoy!

So first up I have these 4 brushes which cost just under €5 with free shipping.

These brushes are what I use to set my eyeshadow primer with and also to contour with. You get 4 brushes with 4 different shapes to them. I don't normally use the pointed tip one but it's handy to have. I use the flat top for contouring and the other two to set my eyeshadow primer with. I would be lost without these brushes and I must actually order more!

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/NEW-Professional-Makeup-Set-Pro-Kits-Brushes-Kabuki-makeup-cosmetics-brush-Tool-/321516965249?var=&hash=item4adbe78d81:m:mte9INhrsJlX894B0uvChEw

Next up I have a 32 piece brush set that costs just under €12. Amazing! These brushes are mostly eye brushes but there are a few good face ones too such as the fan brush. There is no good foundation or concealer brush in this set but sure you get 32 for like €12, and you'd be sorted! Brilliant set for anyone starting out in makeup. I'd be lost without the fan brush from this set. You actually get two but I rather the smaller one.

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/32PCS-CLASSY-SOFT-MAKEUP-BRUSHES-PROFESSIONAL-COSMETIC-MAKE-UP-BRUSH-TOOL-SET-/161662257452?hash=item25a3d2492c:g:srkAAOSw34FVH4su

Now next I'll have two sets for you to choose from, they're both cheap but I feel the cheaper they are the more they don't really work but anyway! I don't have these brushes myself unlike the other two mentioned but my friends have them and like them so I said I would share. It's a set of 10 brushes. One set costs €13 and the other costs €5 so I'll let you decide for yourself! I must order these to give them a try.

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/10pcs-Set-Makeup-Brushes-Eyeshadow-Powder-Blush-Brush-Beauty-Make-Up-Tools-LH-/262097402061?var=&hash=item3d0638f8cd:m:myhcjyCHUdL1yhATygJs0Ng

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Jessup-New-Makeup-Brush-Set-Cosmetic-Foundation-blending-pencil-brushes-Kabuki-/221526812660?var=&hash=item339406e7f4:m:mrG1pvRYoZxDBIbBZGb8ddQ

And finally from eBay I have this fab 15 piece brush set for €15! €1 per brush. These are mostly face brushes so brilliant for contour, blush and highlight but this is by far my favorite set from eBay. It's my most used and everyone loves them so I must defo get another set! I use every single one of these brushes everytime I do makeup so if that doesn't say it all, I don't know what will. If you pick up anything from this blog post then make sure it's these brushes.

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Jessup-Pro-MakeUp-Cosmetic-Set-Eyeshadow-Foundation-wood-Brush-blusher-Tools-set-/321328479571?var=&hash=item4ad0ab7d53:m:mjKZsLhmGNH_4O3McIxbBvw

Now I just want to say that these links are not links to the brushes I bought, these are different sellers and quality can vary from seller to seller but I bought all mine last year and if you shop on eBay enough you'll know that things can come off the site very quickly and be relisted but I'm sure if you look around yourself and check the sellers selling score!

Okay so they're my really inexpensive brushes. Now to move onto something a bit more/ a lot more expensive..

Here I have my most expensive which is 10 brushes for €164. I know, crazy but they're worth it, kinda, once you have a promo code haha! These are all face brushes for 5 large brushes and 5 smaller brushes. I won't say too much because you don't NEED them but they are lovely to have.

http://www.cloud10beauty.com/makeup/makeup-brushes/makeup-brush-sets/sigma-sigmax-synthetic-essential-kit.html

Next again are a bit expensive but if you love blending and what that flawless look then I would highly recommend these brushes its 3 brushes for €30 but like if you're a makeup artist then I think you need these in your kit!

http://www.cloud10beauty.com/makeup/makeup-brushes/makeup-brush-sets/real-techniques-duo-fiber-collection-limited-edition.html

Now again this expensive enough you get 7 brushes for €90 but they are brilliant travel brushes because they come with a travel pot thing! Again you don't need these but I really like them and use them a lot :)

http://www.cloud10beauty.com/makeup/makeup-brushes/makeup-brush-sets/sigma-mr-bunny-black-travel-kit.html

Now these aren't too bad and I think everyone should have these. It's 4 brushes for €28 but these are worth it. The lip brush, you might not use but can be used as a detailer brush for the eyes! The small flat foundation brush is perfect for concealer or cream contour. The biggest brush is the best foundation brush out there and the smaller fluffier one is brilliant for powder contour or bronzer! I love this kit.

http://www.cloud10beauty.com/makeup/makeup-brushes/makeup-brush-sets/real-techniques-core-collection.html

Now I have a fab brush set which I think like if you want to treat yourself, then do. I love these brushes and 12 brushes for €60 is not bad? If you break it down, it's not bad. They blend out your shadow SO WELL and I adore the winged liner brush & the eyebrow brush. Look girls, Valentine's Day is soon like just get these. I need more Zoeva products in my life. It's also cheaper to buy from the site directly rather than beautybay.

So guys, I think I'm done! They're all the brush sets I have. I really hope you treat yourself to one of these or two! Hope you enjoyed this post and got some ideas!

New Look Makeup Event

Hey everyone!

So as I'm sure you've seen, I was a part of my local New Look's first ever Makeup Event! Myself and Jillian were asked to come in and do some makeup demo's using New Look's own makeup range called Pure Colour. I was absolutely delighted to be asked! Thanks a mill to Cherene for thinking of me, Jenny for being a fab manager, Bernie for being my lovely model and my brilliant brother Kenny for his amazing photos! And of course a huge thank you do everyone that popped in to watch, ask question or to just say hello!

So guys we headed over at about 1:30 to get ready! Our space was set up for us, all we had to do was grab the products we needed. I'm fairly sure we took one of everything haha! So we started just after two o clock and we had a fab crowd there. I think we were all a bit nervous at first but after a while we all got into the swing of things!

The first look we created was a day time look and Pure Colour products have amazing makeup that's super wearable during the day and is flawless! So I had Bernie as my model for that which was just fab love Bernie such an amazing girl!

As I said we were a bit awkward but this was a first for Dungarvan and I think it went as well as it could have! After we done our looks on our models, the questions poured in which was great. So happy that people came up and chatted about the products, it was a real girly time!

And honestly that's kind of what we did all day! It was fab. We just kept doing little demos, chatting about the products, giving tips and advice. I absolutely loved this now, the blogger in me defo came out!

I think all of New Look's makeup is brilliant as it's all under €10 and you can get a student discount if you're in secondary school or college! So it's fab but I did fall in love with some items so I'm just going list them here, I don't think I have photos of them all but they're easily found in store :)

So I love the illuminating primer, it gives a smooth finish to the skin and is so pearlescent. A brilliant base for the makeup if you want an all over glowy, dewy look which is fab for Spring/Summer time.

The foundation/contour sticks are amazing! They're like the good old pan stick, but even better! Full coverage and creamy and blend out soooo easily. Highly recommend this as a foundation all over or to highlight and contour with!

Now I love these next bits, these three you will find side by side in store at the makeup counter! And they are a blush, bronzer and highlighter. They're huge in terms of packaging so you'll have it forever because a little goes a long long way. The highlight is a copy for the MAC soft & gentle, the bronzer is a copy for the MAC give me sun bronzer and the blush is just a shade that will suit every single skin tone. I can't rave about these enough, you need them and they're so affordable, you can get 3 instead of just one thing from MAC.

And my final thing that I fell in love with are the Matte Lip Colours and liners to match! You may have seen on my page that I've been wearing the matte lip colour in Mink and it's the exact same as Honeylove by MAC and its a fraction of the MAC price. I just can't even rave about this makeup line enough.

I hope my readers and followers know by now that I wouldn't recommend something unless I really liked it myself. So I'm getting paid for any of this or anything like that at all! I was just asked to do makeup in New Look using the products and I ended up loving most of the products.

If you ever have any questions just snap me or message me because I feel like we helped a lot of girls yesterday and that's what it's all about! I really hope you enjoyed this post and I have so many photos on my page or instagram so defo go check those out!

I cannot wait to hopefully do another event, it was an amazing experience and thank you again to everyone that made it happen! Thoroughly enjoyed myself :) Thanks for having me New Look Dungarvan!

New Look Makeup Event - Product List

Hey girls!

So many of you may have seen that I was apart of my local New Look's Makeup Event yesterday! I'll have a full blog post later on about it all but it was brilliant. Most of my face was done using Pure Colour which is New Look's own makeup range so I wanted to share with you want I used.

Here is the look!

My brows are Inglot Brow Gel in 16 and I use the Catrice cream concealer to clean them up!
Foundation is Inglot HD in 77 mixed with Inglot YSM in 49.
Concealer is MAC Pro Longwear in NC20.

To set my concealer I used the yellow shade in the Pure Colour Contour palette - it's an amazing powder! Brilliant like banana powder that every looks for!

Then the other areas of my face were set & bronzed up with the middle brown shade in the Pure Colour Contour palette - again, a lovely powder, colour is perfect for warming up the face and it is build-able which is fab for bronzer because you don't want too much or it'll look mucky!

My highlight was a mixture of the baked eye shadow in Cream and the massive baked highlighting powder! Just look at that glow! It's actually amazing. & my blush is the blush cream stick :)

My eyes are all the eye shadow palette! Gorgeous colours and very wearable for day or night time.

And finally my lips are the liquid lip colour in MINK which I think is a brilliant copy for the MAC lipstick Honeylove, which if you know me, you know that's all I wear!

Anything from the New Look makeup ranged is priced under a tenner so such a bargain. I would highly recommend the baked highlighter, bronzer and blush - they are all copys for MAC products and are only €8 I believe! Under €10 anyway so you can get 3 of those for the price of 1 MAC item - I think we all know what's good here!

And also if you're a student with a vaild student ID you can get 10% off so grab it now while you can :)

I hope you enjoyed this post and there will be more to come all about the event, along with amazing photos!
