Superdrug Haul

Hey everyone

If you follow me on snapchat you would know that I recently got a bunch of stuff from http://www.superdrug.com/ and I just want to show you in more detail and review some items. So as you may know superdrug is mainly a UK site but they do ship to Ireland for free when you sign up for a health and beauty card which is also free to do!

The shipping takes less than a week so I would consider that quick enough! They stock brands such as MUA, Makeup Revolution and others which are not directly on the Irish Market apart from in Dublin. These brands are so affordable and work really well. Superdrug also always have offers running like 3 for 2 so you will always get a bargain.

Onto the stuff!

I got 3 for 2 on the L'oreal True Match foundation which is a foundation that I will always go back to so I believe I got 3 for €20. I got the shade sand beige as it's lovely for when you have a tan!

Next I got another set of the Real Techniques Core collection brushes! These were on offer for £14 so roughly €20! I absolutely love this set, I already have two sets, you can never have enough. I highly rate these brushes - a must have in your kit.

Next up I got setting sprays from Makeup Revolution. Setting sprays are basically a spray powder. It locks your makeup on to your face and some are designed to mattify the face or to give a glow. I picked up the oil control spray (mattifying) and the amazing makeup fixing spray (just fixes the makeup in place) for £5 each so roughly €12 for them both! I used to pay €10 for the NYX one alone. So far I am loving the oil control spray as it actually works! I have the most oily face ever and this spray prevents me from blotting my face/powdering my face throughout the day - another must have,

And then I placed a rather large order from MUA. I got 7 lip products. AS IF I needed them but for £1-3 you can't go wrong. Firstly I got this Velvet lip lacquer in the shade tranquility and I am in love. I'm currently wearing it. It is matte so it will dry out the lips but so far I'm impressed at how long its lasting on me. This one costs £3, I only got one to try out but I will defo be buying more!

And finally. I got 6 lipsticks from MUA for just £1 each. You simply can't go wrong. These are all matte, just because that's what I like. The bottom of the lipsticks also pop off to show a lipgloss to wear with the lippy! Genius. Two for the price of one almost. I have not worn these lipsticks yet but I'll be sure to let you know if I end up liking them and if not, that's okay because it was only £6 in total. I hope I end up loving them!

Totally Nude

Lilac Belle

Scarlet Siren

Peachy Keen

Fawn Fancy

Wild Berry

And that is all I got! I think haha.  I hope you enjoyed this post and if you pick up anything let me know, I love seeing what other people get. I'm so nosey! Happy shopping.

Thanks for reading!Xx

Strobing! The New Contouring?

Hi everyone!
Hope you are all well :)
Today I wanted to talk about strobing, which in basic terms, is highlighting. However strobing is an extreme form of highlighting the face. Highlight is the opposite to contour. Contour creates shadows and makes things look slimmer, Highlighting is going to extenuate the facial feature you want to bring out the most.

The white bits here on the face is where we would highlight normally. Highlight can be done with cream and powder products. Today I would just like to focus less on the cream products and more on the powder side of things. If you want to do cream highlight then just take a concealer or foundation or makeup stick about 2/3 shades lighter than your own shade and place under the eyes, down the nose, in the middle of the forehead and chin ( if you have a larger chin, highlight will make it stand out even more so try to avoid this area if you want ). Another option is to highlight under your contour too which I do most of the time to clean up the edges. Personally I love a really strong contour but if you don't you can skip this step also. Blend everything together and you'll have a beautiful looking cream contour and highlight.

Now lets take a step back further, before we even apply makeup. Prep the skin. I myself have very oily skin so after I have washed my face with a face wash, I cleanse my face to remove even more oil. At the moment I am using Garnier Micellar Water which can be bought in Penneys for €4.50 or any other chemists. The bottle is huge and will last you forever. After cleansing I moisturize my face, just use your normal everyday one. It is so so important to do this even if you have oily skin.

Next is the actual strobing prep! I use 3 products on the skin. First I take my MAC strobe cream which can be got in MAC or Brow Thomas, I have the mini travel version and it costs €10! I'd recommend this to anyone, even with oily skin and it's not too expensive to have a little bottle of it to yourself, a little goes a long way. Then I take my Rimmel London face primer. This smooths out my skin, over blemishes and fills in my pores while also adding a nice glow to the face. Finally, I use High Beam by Benefit, this is just the cherry on top. I only apply this on the cheeks, nose, lip and above the arch of my brow. By now you're looking some what like a disco ball but that's okay, that's what we are going for!

You should be looking something like this!

Next I just do my usual makeup routine, brows, eyes, foundation and then i get into the highlight and contour. I highlight a little bit by using a concealer under the eyes, down the nose, on the chin and forehead. I use MAC Pro longwear concealer in NC20 to do this. Then I cream contour, which I have a blog post on. Then I set my face with a powder from my Blank Canvas contour kit and now onto the strobing.

I used about 3 different highlighers to get this look so bare with me haha!
  • Products used:
  1. MaryLou by theBalm €20.50
  2. Melon pigment by MAC €24.50
  3. Soap&Glory shimmer brick €15
  • Brushes used:
  1. Real Techniques duo fibre brush €30 in a set of 3
  2. Fan brush from eBay €14 in a set of 32

So I applied these highlighters very generously and heavily to the face. I may have even done two layers of each! I applied them on the cheekbones, down the nose, on the very tip of my nose, as a brow bone highlight, the inner corner of my eyes, above the arch of my brow and I think that is all haha! I dusted a small bit under my contour but it's not something that must be done, I didn't find much difference in it to be honest. You can also apply this to your cupids bow (top lip) to make you look like you have pouty lips! I think I did highlight my lips, i basically highlighted my entire face! It was very wet looking in the end, Such an intense look.

I am now a huge fan of strobing but I still love me some cheek bones! I don't think contouring will go away just yet. I think it may become less harsh as the highlight begins to take over but I don't see why we can't have the best of both worlds! Intense contour and highlight? I say yay.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and maybe learned something from it :) I think strobing is great for the summer time when you have a tan ( natural or out of a bottle ). Give it a go ladies and I would love to hear your thoughts and see photos!

I shall leave you with some more selfies so you can see for yourself and also my next posts will be my contouring kits and maybe a smokey eye tutorial? We shall see :)

Smokey eye tutorial perhaps?

Supporting Irish. Interview with NakedWithoutMyLippy - Holly Lenny

Hi girls! Today I have something a little bit different to share with you all. I took the plunge and emailed a well known Irish YouTuber and to my luck, she replied! I'm so happy to share with you all that I was able to interview Holly Lenny also known as NakedWithoutMyLippy on Youtube and Instagram. I came across Holly a good few months ago now and I just love her beauty videos and I think it's great to see a successful Irish woman out there!

Holly Lenny is a successful 23 year old from Dublin. As a journalist and beauty addict Holly has taken the Internet and social media by storm, with over 21,000 subscribers Holly is virtually famous. Holly creates brilliant beauty videos on YouTube for us all to watch. I've been watching Holly for months now and as I said it is great to have an Irish YouTuber to relate to and to see Holly doing so well for herself! Holly is a big believer, like myself, in supporting Irish, whether it be our food or our people! I think we should all support each other in everything we do. The Irish can break the Internet, nevermind Kim K!

It was an absolute pleasure interviewing this lovely lady and once again thank you so much to Holly for putting in her time and effort. I hope you all enjoy this blog post as much as I did.

1. As your name is NakedWithoutMyLippy, what is your all time fav lippy?
This is so hard because as you can imagine I have so many lippies in my collection. I'd probably have to say, 'Rebel' from MAC simply because it was my first MAC lippy and in my opinion I feel it can be worn during any time of the year, day or night.

2. How did you become interested in makeup? Was there a moment when it just happened or were you always obsessed?

I always LOVED makeup because my mum loved it and allowed me experiment with it from a young age, whether it was some red lippy and blue eyeshadow. She never told me I was too young for it like so many mums do, which I often think attaches negative messages to makeup. Yes, makeup can make someone appear older but I don't think messing around with it at a young age can cause any permanent damage. I doubt a six year old will create a fabulous smokey eye and winged liner to wear on the daily, but if they do then i'm jealous haha

I really got into makeup when I moved to Milan at the age of 19. I was exposed to so many different brands, I met so many people in the fashion industry, it all really blossomed from there. I just loved how some lippy could make me feel so powerful and totally transform my mood. It was around this time the trends for clothes were getting shorter and skimpier and it just wasn't for me. I'm 6"3 in height, as you can imagine it's hard to find a dress without it looking like a t-shirt. I guess makeup always 'fitted'.

3. Would you ever consider doing freelance makeup?

To be honest it has never crossed my mind. I guess doing my own makeup is so different to doing someone else's just because I know my own face so well, what suits it and what doesn't. I wouldn't have the confidence to do freelance makeup but I love to mess around with makeup if a friend asks me.

4. What is your fav high end brand or even just product?

I love YSL because it's so luxurious and the packaging is art. However, lately I can't stop gawking at the Hourglass products. I'm determined to get my hands on a few of their products before 2015 is out.

5. What is your fav drugstore brand/ product?

It has to be L'OrĂ©al Paris. I feel they have an overall good selection of products that are of a high quality. I adore the Volume Million Lashes So Couture mascara because it's the only mascara my stubborn lashes seem to like. I also LOVE the Infallible 24 Hour Foundation.

6. Any current makeup trends you hate or are just sick of?

I've recently heard of this 'strobing' makeup trend and to be honest i'm a little on the fence. No contour is used just a bucket of highlighter. I don't think this trend will take off like others just because so many girls deal with oily skin. I'm sick of sharpie brows if i'm honest.

7. Thoughts on contouring?

I LOVE contouring, it's absolutely incredible how it can transform your face. I think Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner are living proof of this, also who's to say no nips or tucks were involved. I personally can't do my makeup on the daily without contour.

8. How did it feel when you reached over 21,000 subscribers and how does it feel now, knowing that there are so many people out there that know you?

It was CRAZY! I honestly never in a million years expected it. My channel had a little viral moment after my Kylie Jenner lips video and my email was flooded with people subscribing. I'm so delighted that people are enjoying my content. I feel my videos are honest and i'm just one of those girls in the makeup aisle of Boots having the chats with other girls about makeup. I actually can't even picture 21,000 people, I don't know how the people with 1 million+ do!

9. Finally, what is your view on makeup in general?

I love makeup. Makeup is a huge passion of mine and my dad rolls his eyes whenever I say it. Yeah, it can be somewhat expensive and i'm sure I do and have bought products I didn't need, but the thrills I get trying out a new product on myself or introducing it to some else is just wonderful. I always loved art and being creative so I guess makeup is another extension of art.

I do think it's important not to rely on makeup as a security blanket but then again it's incredible that people with acne can totally have their confidence boosted with some foundation and concealer. I hate when people give out to others for wearing too much makeup because I don't see how it directly affects their life.
