My Makeup Collection: Bronzers

Hi everyone!

Today I'll be sharing my bronzers that I have in my makeup collection. Giving my thoughts and opinions/recommendations on them all and rating them out of ten!

Hope you enjoy :)

So first up I have this amazing liquid bronzer by Lancome. This stuff is great as a base for under makeup, It really makes you look bronzed from within. I love using this for when I'm on a night out as there is nothing more I love than being bronzed up like a goddess. I got this as a gift so I have no idea how much it was but I would highly recommend it as a bronze base for makeup! 9/10 just because I'm not too fond of the smell haha.

Next I have this bronzer blusher duo by ELF. As far as I know ELF is shut down in Europe becuase I think they may be re-vamping the site or something. This bronzer is extremely dark so I only use this when I am tanned. Although it has bits of shimmer in it, the shimmer bits don't show up as much. Since this is so dark i love to actually use it as a contour on my cheeks to add even more depth and have that striking Kim K contour - that little dark line that she has - it's perfect for that job. A little goes a long long way with this so use lightly. This was about £4 from the site. 8/10.

I have two matte bronzers from MUA which are an English based company but do ship to Ireland. These are amazing, The more used one is shade 3 and the other is in shade 2. I love shade 2 for bronzing up my face. Shade 3 is what I sometimes use for contour. Perfect for when you want a matte bronzed look and these cost only £1 each! If you know someone in England ask them to pick you up a few in Superdrug. You won't be disappointed. For £1 I'd give this 10/10. Beautiful matte bronzers.

These bronzers are from...DEALZ. Imagine that. Cost only €1.49 each and the 'Bronze Shimmer' is a dupe for MAC 'Give me sun' bronzer, or so that's what everyone says. I have yet to actually use these, as you can see I have a lot of bronzers already so it's hard to use them all and we all have favourites but I may just try them out today :) Can't rate or recommend yet but everyone on the internet seems to love them.

Next I have this cream bronzer stick by Isa Dora in 11 ' Bronze Kissed '. I've used this on a client the other day for her debs as a base for her highlight as this is a shimmery bronze stick and it just made her complexion look so sun kissed and bronze and just beautiful. This was on sale in a local chemist called Haven I think for just €3! What a great little bargain and a great little product. 8/10 as you need to blend it out quickly or else it will go all like lumpy and messy.

Then I have this little sample type thingy of Hoola bronzer by Benefit. This is a matte bronzer and a little goes a long way! I've barely used it because I always forget it about and reach for my usual but every time I have used it, I love it. It's amazing for contour. Not sure if you can even get these little samples anymore but defo try just ask at the counter :) Not sure what it costs as it was a gift but you can get Benefit in Debenhams. 9/10.

Next  I have my Chanel cream bronzer. It is just to die for. This is so expensive but if you want to treat yourself, I would seriously recommend this. It's just beautiful. Like it is perfection, I absolutely love this bronzer - words just can't describe my love for it - it's amazing. This can be got in Debenhams or Boots for about €40 so it's pricey enough but worth it. 10/10. Flawless product.

Almost coming to the end now! I have Solar Powder by Soap N Glory. This has a duo inside, one side has a touch of shimmer and the other is matte. When swirled together it's the perfect combination. I use this on a normal day or when I'm going out too! You can get this in Boots for about €15. 8/10.

Another from Soap N Glory is the Wonder Bronze shimmer brick. Again can be got in Boots for about €15 too. This is honestly more of a highlight as it's so shimmery but I love it for when I want a glowy bronze look :) 8/10. I use this as a highlight when I'm tanned.

Last but not least is this little beauty from Bourjois which can be found in most chemists. This costs about €9 and it smells like chocolate - need I say anymore? This bronze is fab but if applied with a heavy hand it can look mucky so apply lightly. Just dust it across the places you want to bronze up. It can be dark too so it's great for when you are tanned, I do tend to stay away from this when I'm as pale as a ghost! But I love this bronzer. 9/10.

Now that was my bronzer collection, hope you enjoyed reading and it may have helped a little if you're looking to get a new bronzer :)

FOTD: Face Of The Day

Hi everyone!

I'll be sharing a FOTD with you all and the type of face is what I call my 'natural' 'normal' 'everyday' face. It is minimal makeup for myself but still full coverage.

Most products are cheap enough and can easily be gotten online or in the chemist at an affordable price.

So on to the face, here are a few photos of what I call an everyday face...

It consists of little or no eye makeup and then a pop of colour on the lips. Today I'll be showing the products used in the second photo with my glasses on.

FACE

  • Moisturized with simple cream, lip balm and then primed with the post shave balm.
  • Then foundation is Revlon ColorStay.
  • Concealer is MAC Pro longwear concealer.
  • Set with baby powder.

BROWS

  • Brow wiz in taupe to fill in my brows.
  • Concealed around with Catrice cream concealer.
  • Set with clear mascara by Gosh.

CONTOUR & HIGHLIGHT

  • Contour with Blank Canvas contour kit.
  • Hightlight with MaryLou by theBalm.
  • Blush is by Essence.

EYES

Doll Eyes by Lancome and then to make it waterproof NYC waterproof mascara.
Sometimes I do a line of liner and throw on lashes and some times I add a bit of shadow for depth but the liner I use is the liquid liner by NYC and the shadows are 'Naked' and 'Buck' from the Urban Decay Naked 1 palette.

LIPS

I usually do a nude lip using my MAC lip liner in 'Staunchly Stylish' and my Essence liquid lipstick thingy in 06 Soft Nude.

I'm fairly sure that's everything! But that's what I do for a normal everyday look :)

Penneys, Topshop and Footlocker Haul

Hey everyone!

So Friday I headed to Waterford with my parents to pick up a few bits, I was trying to keep college in mind so everything is fairly basic but I did get some great bargains.

We all love a good bargain and Penneys is where to find one. I didn't even look at the 'normal' priced items, went straight to the bargain bins! Honestly all I got were some plain t shirts for college and a few nice dresses for going out but could also be worn with tights ( if I'm feeling girly )

Also got a fab pair of nude heels for only €5 on sale! And got a few small beauty bits.

So first up is a liquid lipstick from the Penneys own brand PS Love and this is in the shade RED 13 and costs just €2.50 - for a little bit more of a review check out my instagram - @jodirochemakeup

Then to pair with the liquid lipstick I picked up this red lip liner for only €1.50 and it's brilliant.

I can't for the life of me find the actual packaging but these are hair removal mits, you get 3 in a pack for €1.50 and it's like sandpaper. You just go around in circular motions and the hair does go. I've tried and tested and so has my mother but we'd rather just shave or wax cause honestly you'll be there for the night at just one leg alone! Now they do work so I'd suggest even using them for the tough areas to shave such as ankles or something but not a whole leg. These are also reusable just wipe clean.

Yeah sure look, sponges. What more can I say haha.

Probably my favorite purchase, the nude heels. Penneys in Waterford have a massive shoe sale on, you'll definitely pick up a great pair for half nothing! These were only €5 and not the only pair I wanted but I said I better stick to nude to match most things. I'm a huge fan of pointed toes on heels so these are perfect for me.

Just a few tees and a top for back to college. Can never have enough basic tees, especially black ones. The green tee was on sale for €1.

Just some basic black leggings, I live in these.

Cami dress for only €1? Does it really matter if I ever wear it now? Nope. But either way I'm sure I'll wear it to bed or something haha.

This is inside out and I'm too lazy but you get the idea. I'm not sure if this is a big baggy t shirt or a dress? It's both on me,soooo I guess I could wear it out but it's still a bit too short for my liking but sure my black leggings will be fab with it. €8 not on sale.

Can I wear my nude heels with this or is it too much nude? Anyway I love this dress 3/4 sleeve and just above my knee. €5 on sale.

So in love with this dress and it was only €7 on sale. Imagine a red lip and black hat with this?

Got this massive bag from Topshop in Debenhams. Was €58 reduced to €15. Couldn't leave it there at all. This will be great for college cause I think it's stylish enough - it'll go with my all black wardrobe anyway - and big enough to fit my laptop and note pads and lunch in! Also two handles, one shorter and one longer.

Last but not least are my new babies. Excuse the laces, I need Julie to help me lace them properly haha. Got these in Footlock for €50 and they're size 3.5 cause if I were to get a size 3 then I'd have velcros and nah. So yeah I've wanted these for over a month and being the spoiled one I am, parents helped me out a little haha. But I know for a fact I'll be living in these from now on.

Here's just a photo of the red lip I had today thanks to my new lip liner and lipstick as mentioned above.

My Makeup Collection: Contour kits

Hi everyone!
Been a little bit since I have blogged, I don't have any excuse for it but I would love to get back into it, so here we go,

Today I'll be sharing my contour kits with you. Contouring is still so popular and everyone loves a good defined cheek bone. I only have two kits which might shock some people but I find I have two too many! They all do the same job. I have a very affordable one by Blank Canvas and a high end one by Anastasia Beverly Hills.

I got my ABH from beautybay.com and it is now selling for €44 > ABH Contour kit
& I got my Blank Canvas from cloud10beauty.com and it's selling for €11 > Blank Canvas kit

So each palette comes with 6 shades to help with contour and highlight. Both have beautiful banana shades for the under eye area.

First I want to talk about my Blank Canvas contour kit.

I got this palette back in April for my birthday and I have been loving it since. It's actually a massive palette with a lot of product inside. My favourite shade is defo the yellow shade as you can see, I've hit pan! It's just perfect for setting your highlighted areas and especially under the eyes.

My least favourite shade is the blush shade but not for any reason, I just never wear blush!

Here is my well loved BC Contour kit ( lid broke off when flying to Switzerland lol, that's how much I love this )

From top row, left to right:
  • I use the 'white' shade when I'm pale for my under eyes and highlighted areas.
  • I use the ' yellow' shade when I'm a bit more tanned for under the eyes and highlighted areas.
  • I use the second darkest shade to contour when I'm  pale or else to contour my nose when tanned.
  • I use the shade under the 'white' shade to set my face.
  • I never use the blush shade.
  • And use the darkest to contour my cheek bones and around my forehead.

A few swatches:

So overall, I absolutely love this palette. I would recommend everyone to have this palette at home! Even if you don't know how to contour you can always use it as a matte bronzer. For the price and quality you can't go wrong. I feel this will last you ages ( bare in mind I use mine all the time on myself and clients ) perfect for a professional or just yourself at home. 10/10 for this palette. I cannot fault this one!

Next onto my Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palette. Raved about by everyone all over the internet!

I got this at the end of June and I think it is amazing also. I love love love the yellow shade in this palette and least like the shade on the top left,  I just don't know what to use it for haha!

As you can see another 6 beautiful shades. This palette has a magnetic closing which is great! and the shades can be replace with little refills that pop in and out. Brilliant if you have a favourite shade and it runs out, saves you buying a whole new palette. I love the middle brown shade on the bottom row, believe it's called fawn, it has the perfect undertone for creating a shadow effect rather that a bronze effect.

I don't use this much as you can see, I haven't made a dent in this yet but...

  • I don't use the top left shade because I don't know what it's for!
  • I use the yellow/banana shade for under the eyes! this is intensely yellow so be careful.
  • I use the top right shade for a very very subtle highlight.
  • I use the bottom left shade as a matte bronzer.
  • I use the middle brown shade to contour my cheeks and nose.
  • I use the right brown shade as a bronze too, mix with the left brown shade and pop it around the temples and on the cheeks a bit, I find these to be more on the orange side so I don't use it for contour.

A few swatches:

Overall I do love this palette but not nearly as much as my cheaper BC one! The palette is extremely pigmented and also on the orange toned side, so if you want a harsh contour then this is perfect but that's not for most of us.

Little comparison ( my own opinion of the two )

I honestly don't see what the more expensive ABH palette can do that the BC palette can't. Really and truly, I do love them both but I wouldn't waste my money if I were you on the ABH palette. If you want to invest in a great contour palette, pick up the Blank Canvas ( link is above ) for only €11 and have amazingly sculpted cheeks. I only bought the ABH palette as a treat for myself, I do still use this on clients too but not nearly as much as my busted up Blank Canvas.

You'd swear I was getting paid to sell Black Canvas to ye but I'm not! Just my honest opinion. Like the luxury of the ABH palette is great and all but the cheaper alternative works just as good, if not, better.

And I mean, just look at the size difference.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and found it some bit helpful in deciding what contour palette to buy.
